About Us

Who are we?

Homeschool Excursions has been established to provide homeschooled students in Metro Atlanta and
North Georgia with unique, fun, educational, and social experiences.

We focus on offering activities that you would have a difficult time organizing on your own.
These include theater shows (with a back-stage tour or other special feature), science programs,
skills and crafts, and environmental programs.

Prices are constantly changing as we receive additional funding.
New activities are being developed and will continue to be added to our program listings.
Please 'refresh' your page on a regular basis to view the most current information.

Why should we participate in a Homeschool Excursions activity?

  • All events are fun, safe, educational, and social. Group interaction can help develop independent and confident children.
  • Performances are more than simply attending a show.
    • Focused discussion with historical, cultural, and social information with an opportunity for kids to contribute and ask questions
    • Puppet making workshop and museum tour at The Center For Puppetry Arts
    • Social time with new homeschoolers and their families
    • Meet the actors after the performance
  • Nutrition lessons and cooking classes
    • Learn how food affects us (energy levels, allergies, ADD/ADHD, and general health) and why it is important to eat healthily
    • Participate in discussions with opportunities to ask questions
    • Learn how to cook a delicious and nutritious meal
    • Eat until you burst
  • Meet new homeschoolers from Metro Atlanta and North Georgia
    • Your kids are presented with the opportunity to develop new friendships
    • Strengthen the local homeschool network
  • Parents are welcome to attend, or not; it's up to you!
    • You can join us for the full day, or for any part of it
    • Provides an opportunity to spend time with younger children while the older kids participate, or vice versa
    • Homeschooling is a full time job, so we're offering parents a bit of respite
  • New programs are constantly being developed
  • A day of fun and excitement at an affordable price!

How does it work?

  • Find an activity that interests you.
  • E-mail us to make a reservation.
  • Send payment at least two weeks prior to the course, unless other arrangements are made.
  • An e-mail will be sent a couple days before the program to everyone who has registered with all the necessary information for the event.
  • Meet at the specified location for our exciting adventure.
  • Parents are expected to retrieve their children within 15 minutes of the stated concluding time if they did not join us for the program.
  • Students express to their parents what an amazing and wonderful experience they had and how much they look forward to future programs.

Can parents attend?

The entire family is welcome to join in the fun! However, one of our goals is that in addition to acquiring new knowledge and skills while participating in these excursions, new friendships will also develop. Sometimes kids are a bit more reluctant to 'branch out' if their parents are in the vicinity, so we hope you'll encourage your child to immerse him/herself in the group, to share their ideas or insights, ask questions, and contribute to discussions. Homeschool Excursions must maintain a student to adult ratio of 4 to 1, which will hopefully be fulfilled through parental attendance.

What does the future hold?

The vision of Homeschool Excursions is grand. The list of trips will continue to grow in an attempt to cater to everyone's interests. The long-term goal is to acquire property as a central location for the organization. A sustainable community will be established where students will have an opportunity to learn a broad range of skills including organic gardening, various building techniques, wilderness skills, and understanding alternative energy sources.
