Winter Holiday Hoe-Down

Hello! Welcome to Homeschool Excursions' Resource page for parents. This is not the place for curiculum materials or local support groups. Rather, we are working to provide links to pages that can help answer your questions about homeschooling. Most of this information has been provided by parents like yourself. So, if you have any sites you would like to share, please send them our way! (We know you have some good ones bookmarked!)

Homeschool Excursions is not affiliated with any religious belief system. We are an inclusive organization. A few of the links below are to sites that do contain religious content; we are trying to be selective in what we include. To the best of our knowledge, those sites provide information that is helpful to individuals of all faiths. However, we are not able to completely research each site, so please let us know if a link should be removed and why. We want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome here!

Please let us know if you find any broken links so they can be removed or repaired.

Georgia Homeschool.com

Georgia Department of Education

This page of the Georgia Department of Education website lists the state requirements for homeschooling your kids. It also provides links to answer additional questions.

Legal Information by State

Assistance in understanding the homeschooling laws and legalities for your state.

National Home Education Legal Defense

NHELD is an acronym for National Home Education Legal Defense, a national organization open to all who wish to join, that seeks to protect and defend the rights of families who wish to educate in freedom.

National Home Education Network

The National Home Education Network exists to encourage and facilitate the vital grassroots work of state and local homeschooling organizations and individuals by providing information, fostering networking and promoting public relations on a national level. Because we believe there is strength in a diverse network of homeschoolers, we support the freedom of all individual families to choose home education and to direct such education.

State Laws

In the United States, education is governed by state, not federal, laws. In some ways, this is a very good thing, because there is no pretense of "one size fits all". But it also makes it much more complicated to explain to people what they have to do in order to homeschool legally.
In these files, we have listed the actual law, where available, and have also tried to find resources within each state, people and organizations who can help you with any questions.

Homeschooling Approaches

Although every homeschool is unique, certain homeschooling "styles" have become very popular. Most homeschoolers do not follow one style or method exactly. Instead, they select the ideas and suggestions that fit their family and eventually end up with a method all their own. It may take some time to develop your own routine and you may discover that you start out more structured in the beginning and become more flexible and relaxed as time goes on. The following are the most popular homeschooling styles.

Can Teach!

Using paintings from the Walker we will show you how to find and interpret these clues. You can take a 'guided tour' where we explain the portrait to you, or you can visit the 'explore' section where you do the detective work and find the clues yourself. Either way there is lots to do both on-line and away from your computer.

Legends

For over a thousand years, storytellers have spun tales of King Arthur of Britain, his Queen Guinevere, and the circle of his noble Knights. Why do these stories endure? How does an outlaw in Lincoln green with a taste for disguise and foolery survive for six hundred years to inspire disguised tricksters from Alta California to Revolutionary France to the farthest reaches of the galaxy?
How have these songs and stories twisted and turned over the centuries, and how have they defined our expectations of heroism, romance, and adventure?

This is Legends, Paula Kate Marmor's personal journey through the worlds of Robin Hood, King Arthur, D'Artagnan, and other swashbuckling characters of balladry, fiction, and film, from the shores of Avalon to the dungeons of Zenda.
